A glimpse into my pregnant chick summer - concerts, shows, and set mom life

Well I can’t drink brewskis or do anything too crazy this summer, but that’s not stopping me from having fun. In between road trips (to see family and dinosaur bones obviously), being on set, managing my son’s career, and working within the dynamic environment of a jail, I have tickets to a whole slew of things to keep me busy.

Things like:

— comedian Drew Lynch (tomorrow)

— a screening of the pro-Palestine documentary film Israelism with a q+a by Dr. Gabor Mate at the end of June

— Orville Peck

— Neil Young (legend!) at his July 23 show on the Crazy Horse: Love Earth tour.

— Vancouver Folk Fest to see my boy Mick Flannery and many other talented acts.

I’ve also got a few shows I’m eyeing for the fall, but we’ll see how I’m feeling in my third trimester. For now, I’m focused on getting rest, wrapping up the kids’ school year, and prepping myself and my son for a busy summer of filming.

One thing is for sure, life doesn’t stop when you’re pregnant, and it’s not good for me to stay cooped up. I need to be doing things that make me feel good. My mind and soul needs to be engaged. With my interests keeping me sane, this baby girl is bound to be musical and socially conscious. If she’s anything like her big brother, I’m sure she will be.
